A result should be explainable.

Each calculator distinguishes your inputs from external data. We do not fill forms with assumed averages or create statistics without a source.

The five calculations

What do you have left each month?

Monthly balance = net income − total expenses

The balance depends on including every expense. A positive balance is not guaranteed savings: unexpected payments may arise.

How much of your salary goes on rent?

Rent (%) = monthly rent ÷ monthly net income × 100

No percentage alone determines housing affordability. We apply no universal threshold and do not reproduce the European total housing cost overburden indicator.

Which salary bracket are you in?

Comparable monthly gross = annual gross main-job earnings ÷ 12

Full-time and part-time earnings are combined without conversion. Self-employed and household incomes are not classified. A decile measures neither wealth nor wellbeing and does not give an exact percentile.

How has your purchasing power changed?

Equivalent amount = initial amount × (final index ÷ initial index)

The all-items CPI represents a national statistical basket, not your personal spending. This tool does not update rental contracts or predict property prices. Only months with final indices are available.

How much do you need to move out?

Target = upfront costs + (cushion months × monthly expenses)

Enter the first month once in upfront payments; the cushion covers later months. The deposit is an editable estimate, not a claim about contractual requirements. No returns, grants or price changes are assumed.

Salaries: INE Labour Force Survey (EPA)

Employees aged 16 or older living in family households in Spain; main job, full-time and part-time.

Annual gross main-job earnings divided by 12. Extra salary payments are spread over the year. Part-time earnings are not converted to full-time equivalents. Lower bounds are inclusive and upper bounds exclusive; the nine published thresholds are rounded to €0.10. No exact percentile is estimated.

Reference year: 2024. Published: 2025-11-14. INE table 66252 · Salary methodology.

Published lower thresholds, monthly gross earnings
DecileFrom
D2€1,068.90
D3€1,392.70
D4€1,582.20
D5€1,780.10
D6€2,001.40
D7€2,265.40
D8€2,659.80
D9€3,199.80
D10€4,056.70

The first decile contains values below the first threshold; the tenth has no upper bound. Original thresholds are rounded to €0.10. The comparison uses these published boundaries, not individual microdata.

CPI: one base, actual months

National all-items CPI, base 2025: one consistent historical INE series. Only final monthly indices; the September 2026 flash estimate is excluded. Index ratios are used without manually joining different bases.

Retained period: 2016-01/2026-08. Latest index used published: 2026-09-15. INE table 76125 · INE CPI calculator · Base 2025 methodology.

Precision and updates

Money inputs become integer cents. Amounts display two decimals; percentages up to two. Inflation retains decimal precision until final rounding. Annual salary comparisons use thresholds multiplied by twelve before rounding.

Downloaded files, SHA-256 hashes and extraction scripts are versioned. Checks cover complete thresholds, matching salary CSV/JSON, consecutive months and positive indices. Updates require review and a site rebuild. Visitors' figures are never sent to INE.
